Pengembangan Kecakapan Abad 21 Dalam Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam

Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of 21st-century skills (4C) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), including its implementation strategies, challenges, and development efforts in the digital era. The 21st-century skills—critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication—are essential in preparing students to adapt to the rapidly changing global environment. This research employs a library research method by analyzing relevant literature sources. The findings indicate that the integration of 4C in PAI can be achieved by internalizing Islamic values such as tabayyun (verification), ta’awun (cooperation), and qaulanma’rufan (ethical communication) within the learning process. The implementation strategies include student-centered learning approaches, the use of digital technology, and innovative learning models such as Project-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, and Blended Learning. However, several challenges remain, including limited teacher competence, low digital literacy, and the dominance of conventional teaching methods. Therefore, strategic efforts are needed, such as improving teachers’ competencies, integrating technology into learning, and strengthening competency-based curricula. Ultimately, PAI learning is expected to produce students who are not only cognitively competent but also possess strong religious character and 21st-century skills.
