Abstract

This article discusses the role of the family as the primordial foundation of Islamic education, focusing on the manifestation of Ta'dib to form Insan Kamil (the universal man). In Islamic educational philosophy, the family is positioned as the primary environment responsible for touching and preserving a child's soul before it is influenced by external distractions. However, contemporary character crises indicate that families are losing this essential role due to a modern educational system that prioritizes academic grading over spiritual and moral development. This library research employs content analysis to examine relevant literature on Islamic pedagogy. The findings indicate that implementing Ta'dib within the family through consistent parental role modeling, the habituation of proper conduct, spiritual education, and balanced Islamic parenting patterns serves as a critical solution to character degradation. Strengthening this foundational role is crucial to cultivating balanced individuals who harmonize intellectual, spiritual, and moral dimensions. Thus, the family acts as a metaphysical sanctuary that bridges the ideal goals of Islamic education with the realities of child development in the modern era.
